It is crazy to think that one could ski on the Costa del Sol meaning the sunny coast but yes the Costa del Sol has some of the best skiing in Spain apart from the Pyrenees in the Sierra Nevada. Pradollano is the ski resort located just an hour away by car from the beaches of Nerja on the Costa del Sol.
The best airport to fly into to ski in the Sierra Nevada is Malaga International Airport and from there it is about ninety minutes away by car to the ski resort of Pradollano. The nearest airport to the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada is actually Granada Airport but Ryan Air is the only carrier from the United Kingdom at the moment offering a very limited service. Granada Airport is mainly a regional airport with connecting flights to the main centres such as Barcelona and Madrid.
Skiing on the Costa del Sol has its benefits as one can ski in the morning and sunbathe on the beaches of Nerja in the afternoon.
