Designers all over the world simply describe fashion as a statement of one’s personality, being oneself and comfortable with effortless style. Simple to say for people with gorgeous faces with access to expensive products and services. However, does fashion reach out to the common woman?
Can an ordinary middle class woman afford designer labels and shoes? Every range of clothing, from party wear and cocktail dresses to formal wear and baby clothing has now been magically transformed in fashion. Even maternity clothes are not out of its scope now. With increasing coverage by the media, every new style and costume in the market is extensively detailed and criticized by fashion critics. It might be some Police retro sunglasses or a new shade of lipstick or whatever – but women seem to be dictated to these days as to what to wear.
Every new fabric and cut is immediately in “vogue” and circulated in the entire market. Slowly it filters through the web of label stores, then into street market and consequently copied by local retailers in small areas. However, the real touché of the designers is lost in the mayhem and the common girl gets a distorted image of the real product. However, someday maybe it’s possible for the sky-high rates to come down and the middle class will find it possible to avail fashion in its true sense and persona.
